Claire Chitham is best-known to New Zealanders as Shortland Street’s loveable Waverley Wilson but her performance as feisty gang-chick Aurora in series two of OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE demonstrated her range as an actor.
Claire first joined the ‘Street’ in 1994 when Waverley was a guest character. She returned in 1997 and stayed for eight years becoming one of the show’s longest-serving actors.
After leaving Shortland Street in 2004 Claire took on a number of theatre roles: Up For Grabs (Auckland Theatre Company), Jacques Brel is Alive and Living in Paris, Tape (SiLo Theatre) and had a guest role on Prime TV’s police drama Interrogation.
That part won Claire the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2006 Air New Zealand Screen Awards.
Other theatre credits include Play 2 with the Auckland Theatre Company in 2003 and a number of amateur productions such as: Penny Blue, The Sisters Rosenberg, The Elephant Man and Dolphin Theatre.
